Individualised Learning for Students with Special Needs

Not every student is the same, each with a different learning profile. Some students can get work done faster while others need more time to understand the assignment and execute it properly. It can be difficult with traditional class formats, since the teacher only has so much time to allocate to each student. This can result in devastating consequences, with some students falling between the cracks and being left behind. Rather than being stigmatised, there are ways to remedy these problems and ensure that everyone gets a chance to realise their potential and graduate onto university.

Many students are ashamed of their differences, comparing themselves to others in their class and feeling that they have failed their parents. This can manifest differently, whether it causes the student to withdraw or be afraid of going to class. From their peers, they might be on the receiving end of bullying which aggravates the problem and does not make anything any easier. Parents may try their best but this can be futile since they lack the skills needed to both guide and motivate their children, no matter how much they try.

Inspiration offers both learning centres and private schools, offering expertly tailored tutoring combined with the chance to earn accredited high school credits and full diplomas. That means that they can attend school as normal, while coming to one of out 13 learning centres positioned across Canada. They can work on fundamentals, homework, or even take entire courses that they either failed or wish to earn a higher mark on. With universities becoming progressively more competitive, it is essential that grade 11 and 12 report strong results, especially for the more competitive programs. It is important to note that not all programs are equal, with some offering better career opportunities than others. Our expert team has decades of experience between us and we know how to navigate difficult terrain, finding creative solutions to difficult problems.

Our format allows us to understand the student in a more intimate fashion, getting to know their interests, strengths and weaknesses. Coming from a holistic point of view, we get to know the student as an individual entity, allowing us to format a plan for success and finding the right teachers to carry them on through to the next milestone. Some students deal with social anxiety, which prevents them from applying themselves fully, especially if it comes to group assignments or public speaking. Others are immigrants (or from immigrant families) and English may not be their first language. To ensure proficiency, our teachers execute routine assessments, both written and oral, which test which information was retained and what was lost. This facilitates our efforts in building them up, filling in the gaps and inspiring them to try harder. As we have learned over the years, the most important thing is trust, allowing our students to realise that we have their best interests in mind and that we are in their corner, every step of the way.

Regardless of which barriers your child is facing, we can assure you that we have seen it before. Some students struggle with Autism, which can negatively impact learning, yet are able to graduate from our program and gain admission to some of the best universities. Human beings are complex and we have as many strengths as we do complications. With or without a diagnosis, we know that students do best when they are supported by a caring and consistent team that is able to advocate for them in addition to providing guidance when the path forward is unclear. If your child is struggling in school, for any reason, we invite you to come in for a complimentary assessment, so we can understand your child better and give you an objective view of their academic situation and what options are available. When we work together, in good faith and kindness, we can lift students up and allow them to be their true selves!
