1. English & Literacy

  • Reading Fluency: improving accuracy, pacing, and expression with longer texts and early chapter books
  • Comprehension: identifying main idea, supporting details, cause-and-effect, and making simple inferences
  • Vocabulary: using context clues, prefixes/suffixes, and homophones
  • Writing Skills: composing clear paragraphs with topic sentences, supporting ideas, and conclusions
  • Grammar: proper use of nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, capitalization, punctuation, and contractions
  • Spelling: high-frequency words and pattern-based spelling
  • Oral Communication: retelling stories, giving short presentations, and asking/answering questions in full sentences

2. Mathematics

  • Number Sense: reading, writing, and comparing numbers up to 1,000
  • Place Value: understanding hundreds, tens, and ones; introduction to thousands
  • Addition & Subtraction: multi-digit operations with regrouping
  • Multiplication & Division: facts up to 10 × 10, arrays, repeated addition, and simple word problems
  • Fractions: recognizing, comparing, and representing fractions (½, ⅓, ¼, etc.)
  • Measurement: using standard units (cm, m, g, kg, L, mL), perimeter, and area basics
  • Time: telling time to the minute, elapsed time
  • Money: adding/subtracting coins and bills, making change up to $10+
  • Geometry: 2D/3D shapes, symmetry, simple angles, and transformations (flip, slide, turn)
  • Data Management: bar graphs, pictographs, line plots, interpreting data

3. Science & Social Studies (based on school curriculum)

  • Science: forces (push/pull, friction, magnetism), soils and plants, growth of animals, and simple machines
  • Social Studies: communities in Canada, heritage and traditions, early mapping and geography skills

4. Study Skills & Habits

  • Building focus for 30 minutes or more
  • Developing independence in reading instructions and completing assignments
  • Beginning note-taking and organizing ideas with graphic organizers
  • Using strategies to prepare for quizzes and short tests
  • Checking work for accuracy and neatness

5. Enrichment & Confidence Building

  • Creative writing: short stories, poetry, descriptive writing
  • Public speaking: short presentations and reading aloud with confidence
  • Critical thinking: logic puzzles, word problems, and problem-solving activities
  • Confidence building: encouragement, goal-setting, and progress tracking

6. Learning Formats

  • Sessions combine structured workbook practice, interactive problem-solving, guided reading/writing, and hands-on activities.
